Meanwhile… Worthing Comic Con 2018

Okay so this is probably going to be the shortest convention blog post ever.  Unfortunately, some conventions just don’t turn out the way you want them to.  Noone’s fault, it’s just the way it is sometimes.

Now, I always enjoy the local shows.  They’re close to home so I don’t have any hotel expenses, minimal travel costs and the tables are usually really reasonably priced.  But best of all, I don’t have to leave my pooch for too long.  Last year, Worthing Comic Con was organised by someone else but it was a brilliant show for me and so I didn’t hesitate signing up for this one.

My only complaint is that set up was on the actual morning of the show just ONE hour before the doors opened.  This meant that after loading in and then taking the car to the nearest carpark available I would have literally 30 minutes to set up.  Yes, 30 minutes to set up a table which usually takes Bret and me about 3 and half hours.  Also, I should point out that I was by myself because neither of my boys wanted to give up their Saturday morning lay-in for a local event.  I can’t blame them really, I wished I’d stayed in bed too.

Look what you can achieve when you have awesome organisational skills 😉

The tables were a lot smaller than what I’m used to which threw my table plan out of the window but on the whole I was pretty pleased I managed all this, by myself, without coming out in hives.

However… I needn’t have worried about setting up in time.  As it turns out, I pretty much had all the time in the world.

The view from my table for most of the day.

Yep, it just wasn’t meant to be.  It was far from the worse gig I’ve ever had portsmouthtattooconvention but of course it’s very disappointing when you put a lot of work and effort into your products and display.

On the plus side…

Free chocolate bar from the organisers! YAY!!!

Don’t get me wrong though, I still had some lovely customers that day, made some new friends and caught up with familiar faces so not all was lost.  Most importantly, the boys and I still had our traditional “end of convention Chinese delivery” when I got home.

Our next show is MCM London at the end of October which we are really looking forward to and I’m even planning a bit of fangirling for that one.  Hope to see you all there 🙂
